Amy's Sofa'bed with Ottoman

Well here is a project that was a fun experience. Amy's Sofa'bed is a one-of-a-kind piece that I am happy to have had sit in my apartment for as long as it has.  The uniqueness of the shape is what makes it so wonderful. When I received the sofa, it was disheveled and truly loved too hard.  Many buttons were missing, the fabric (which felt like carpet) was faded in many areas and worn thin. And if I recall correctly, a little rabbit had eaten through the fabric underneath.  Here is the Before...

After many hours in Fabric Depot, Amy chose a wonderful brown tweed that really brings back the vintage feel.  I added more inner cotton batting for oomph and new and improved buttons. There is an aspect about the sofa and ottoman that I really enjoyed. It was the pinstripe pleats that checker the entire seat and back rest. I had never used this technique and I am glad with the results. Out with the dingy and dusty, in with the simple and stylish. Who would have thought that a sofa'bed could be so attractive! Here are the After images...

  4. I love it so, so, so! Sarah, you did an amazing job. It's such a great shaped piece of furniture and very functional that it was worth the effort and saving.

It's at least fifty years old and will last another fifty thanks to you. The bunny agrees it is too nice for him now - he will not touch it.

  6. Jereme, you are a very good husband for working that sofa down the stairs.

  7. Furniture arrived on time, well packaged, and free of damage. Excellent product for the price. Looks great in our screened-in porch. Look forward to sitting, and gathering on our new patio sofa and chairs.

  8. Make sure you open the item carefully to find all the screws needed, mine were missing some so had to go buy some at home depot and they don't sell the exact ones. however, once assembled, this small sofa
been great so far. and can handle weight.

    great buy and fast delivery.

The sofa did come with an ottoman and four matching 18" pillows. I, personally, do not like that pattern on the ottoman or pillows so I had the ottoman covered and am working on covering the pillows.

The only think that frustrates me with the sofa is that the chaise and sofa are not held together by anything, so they tend to drift apart. I am thinking a bracket or some non slip pads will do the trick though.
